This machine works pretty good. I’ve been using it for a few months. There was a shortage of distilled water in my area for a while so I bought this machine. I use distilled water for my CPAP machine and our steam mop and iron. We don’t drink it. I fill it with the hot water from my tap, that speeds up the distilling process. I just start it up and forget about it, it shuts off when it’s done. It does have a cooling fan on it so it does make some noise, but we just put it on the counter in the kitchen and ignore it, it’s not that loud. It comes with some cleaning crystals, but I just use a little bit of white vinegar and hot water and it cleans up just fine. If you don’t want to run out of distilled water it’s a good machine for you.

Had this a few weeks now, probably made close to 15 gallons so far. At $1.75 a gallon in the store, this is close to paying half its cost. Have not used the powder it came with to clean it. Just rinse and scrub out the mineral sludge each time and what is left, a small splash of vinegar cleans it up in short order. If you need a steady, economical source of distilled water, this is it.

I expected the distilling process to take hours. I was pleasantly surprised that it took approximately an hour and half. I am careful to make sure the system is in an open area that I can observe. The return is exposed. I use a small dish under the water container to close the open gap.The tank is easy to clean after processing. I do have a whole house pre filter and water softener which may assist my experience.The storage container is equal/better than the commercial containers. My fear is I will not be able to replace it if it is damaged. I am already preemptively looking.

As you can see in the photo above the results of using this unit to distill my 134ppm tap water are 5ppm water. Using the default settings and just turning the unit on I get about 1 gal every couple of hours. As others have noted, this unit is not the most elegant looking, nor the simplest to use – but for the price it’s hard to beat.I don’t understand the really dumb method of filling the external container with it’s separate stainless – hell, I don’t even know what to call it: it’s not a cap, it’s not a funnel… it’s just a loose piece that sits atop the plastic catch container and sort of slides against the output hose. Weird. It would be so much more convenient to use food-grade flexible tubing.The unit comes with 4 charcoal filter bags – but there’s no mention in the manual of what to do with them. Speaking of the manual, there’s not much to speak of. It lacks illustration where there should be illustration and lacks guidance where there should be guidance.I bought this unit to provide the distilled water required for use in my humidifiers, not for potable water. Works fine and produces enough in a timely manner for my purposes.

I live in an apt. w/ 4 steam radiators, so adding humidity is a must. My cool-mist humidifier runs 24 hours a day in the winter. When I use tap water in the humidifier, the white mineral dust builds up on every plastic surface in the apt. in a matter of a week. So, I bought this distiller, figuring the season is longer than 6 weeks, which is how long it might take for the machine to pay for itself over buying gallons of distilled water (bonus: not buying 60 plastic gallon jugs). I fell in love with this machine after one use! No more calcification building up on the humidifier. No more white dust. Visibly clear water in the plastic jug. A cycle completed w/in a few hours.Even so, thank goodness for youtube, because the instructions are so badly translated as to be useless. It is “noisy,” and a bother to unplug (twice!) to rinse out and fill, but I absolutely do not mind either of those drawbacks for the overall simplicity of the process and the quality-of-life upgrade the machine provides.

So often I’m finding the quality of electronics to be so poor that they barely last long enough to break even. I bought this to save me from driving to the store to buy distilled water every other day. I don’t have storage space for more than three gallons and I use one and a half to two gallons per day. This runs almost non stop and so far it has provided 70 gallons. It takes up a moderate amount of counter space and the fan is as noisy as a microwave running but I’ve gotten used to it and don’t even notice it anymore. I’m glad I made this purchase.

Due to the shortage of distilled water in stores, I purchased this to make distilled water for my work. This works very well and it’s very easy to set up. Make sure to have some citric acid on hand so you can clean the boiler every so often. Because you may have hard water buildup. I used a TDS meter to test the distilled water and was getting about 5 to 10 PPM so definitely works. And for reference, the regular tapwater where I live is about 300 PPM.

I bought this thing for about $50 and I can already say it paid for itself. It does what it’s supposed to do, make distilled water. I checked the water quality and ppm came back 0 or 1 every time. I see these other machines selling for hundreds more and I don’t know why you would need to spend that much money when something cheaper can do the same thing. It’s also not as loud or hot as people say it is. It’s louder when I try to make my own distilled water with a pot and lid only to get a cup of water in 3 hrs. If you’re looking for a water distiller, look no further.

The main and only reason for this was to eliminate the need to waist money on gallons of distilled water at the grocery store. I have sleep apnea, and use a cpap machine. They are required to use distilled water. Now since this falls under medical necessity, my hsa card paid for it. Anything health related is covered for purchasing.

I originally gave this product a not-so-hot review no I’m having to eat Crow. I have no idea what I did wrong but it was taking forever to make the tiniest bit of distilled water. My original review stated the instructions were vague and I still stand by that. But for whatever reason(I’m sure it was me) the fan never engaged on y unit which was why it was taking so long. I don’t what happened or what I did or didn’t do but the fan kicked it and it’s working like a charm. The seller reached out to me which exhibited great customer service and I apologized to him now I’ve rescinded my original review and replaced it with this one. This is a great product it does what it was designed to do and I’m a happy camper. It is a bit noisy but it’s better than paying the rising prices for water. Buy this unit.

I have been trouble finding distilled water for my CPAP on a regular basis. The price has gone up 15% this year but the worst part is the supply is sporadic. I decided to try this distiller b/c the price was right. Indeed it was very affordable compared to many other models. I followed directions and within less than 3 1/2 hours I had just shy of a gallon of distilled water. I did sprinkle some of the citric acid “detergent” in the tank, right after emptying the distillate. It dissolved the residue from the minerals that collected at the bottom of the tank. It was a simple process. And though I stayed home and checked periodically to make sure it wasn’t running dry, it DID shut off automatically. I definitely recommend this Vevor water distiller.

In the cold winter this year, nice to have this unit that not only distills water for the humidifier, but as a bonus heats up the room at the same time. Saves on heating bills. Certainly makes it easier than trying to find distilled water, which is becoming harder every day.
